SUNY Canton will soon begin construction on a $36 million athletic
and convocation center.
The new facility will include a hockey arena, a field house with a regulation, hard wood volleyball and basketball court, a fitness center, pool, locker room facilities, training room and athletic department office space.
SUNY Canton's unveiled a new $1.8 million, all-weather, lighted synthetic turf field this fall. It has hosted the college's soccer teams and has been extensively utilized for the area's high school Section X soccer playoffs.
The college also did extensive renovations on the cross country trails that run behind the campus through the woods along the Grasse River. In addition, a new on-campus baseball field will be ready for competition next fall.
The men's and women's basketball teams are currently playing off-campus due to the closure of Dana Hall.
The women's softball team plays on a skinned field equipped with two enclosed dugouts.
The men's baseball teams has an on-campus practice facility and will play their home games at Ogdensburg Free Academy this spring while the new field is being completed
The men's ice hockey team play and practice at the Canton Pavilion, which is located in the village just minutes from campus. The Pavilion has a capacity of 900 people in the bleachers and another 300 in the community room overlooking the ice. The Kangaroos enjoy the use of a 28-seat custom locker room with an attached steam room for the players.
