Small logo (Niagara, N.Y.)- Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) and Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) each scored a goal and Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) recorded his first career shutout leading the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team past Niagara University 2-0 Saturday night. The Roos improved to 3-2 and handed the Purple Eagles just their second loss of the season.

Merrow, making his second start of the season, stopped all 32 shots he faced from Niagara, who are ranked 15th in the latest ACHA Division I poll.

Stewart scored his second goal of the weekend at the 9:49 mark of the second period from Kevin O'Connell (Cadyville, N.Y.). Cook then added an insurance goal at 6:15 of the third period with assists going to Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.) and Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.).

Keith Rybka had 29 saves for the Purple Eagles (11-2).
