(Utica, N.Y.)- Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored at 1:44 of overtime lifting the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team past Mohawk Valley Community College 5-4 Sunday afternoon in Utica. SUNY Canton improved to 5-2 in Region III and 7-3 overall and handed the Hawks their first league loss. Mohawk Valley is now 5-1-1 in the region and 8-3-1 overall.

Gronowski's goal, unassisted, capped off a wild comeback by the Roos who trailed 4-1after two periods and nearly nine minutes of the third.

The Roos comeback began at 8:57 of the third period when Nick Montour (Akwesasne, N.Y.) scored his first of two goals from Colin LaPointe-Potter (Norwood, N.Y.) Montour made it 4-3 when he scored again, this time from Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) at the 12:43 mark.

In the final minute of regulation, SUNY Canton pulled goalie Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) for an extra attacker and the move paid off when Mike Pearman (Anaheim, N.Y.) tied the game and forced overtime scoring with 23 seconds left. Montour and Gronowski assisted on the goal.

Gronowski also scored in the first period from Montour and Kevin O'Connell (Cadyville, N.Y.) and Mahler finished with 30 saves.

Kevin McCready scored twice for the Hawks. Jordan Anderson had a goal and an assist. Nick Snyder had one goal and Brian Frankel had 29 saves in net.
