Zaryski Nets Game Winner In Third Period
(Canton, N.Y.)- Scott Zaryski (Oswego, N.Y.) scored from Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.) with 2:24 left in the third period catapulting the SUNY Canton men's hockey team past RIT 3-2 on Saturday at the Canton Pavilion. The Roos swept the two-game series and improved to 11-6-2 overall.
Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) gave the Roos a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period scoring from Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) at the 3:28 mark.
Otwell made it 2-0 Roos when he scored from Garrett Rosenbaum (Charlestown, N.C.) and Mike Pearman (Anaheim, N.Y.) 4:25 into the second period.
RIT fought back to tie the game on back-to-back goals from Chris Mark. Mark's first goal came at the 4:37 mark and his second to tie the game came with 3:36 left in the period.
Zaryski then won the game with his seventh goal of the season.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) started in goal for the Roos and finished with 17 saves in 33 minutes. Brian Gruenauer (Depew, N.Y.) finished the game and recorded five saves.
David Rancourt had 37 saves for RIT.
