Merrow Stops 21 Shots In 3-1 Win Over Hudson Valley
(Troy, N.Y.)-Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) turned aside 21 shots
and the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team received goals from three
different players in a 3-1 win over Hudson Valley Community College
Saturday night in Troy. The Roos moved to 8-4-2 in Region III and 12-6-2
overall.
SUNY Canton scored a goal in each period. Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) scored at 7:19 of the first period from Colin LaPointe-Potter (Norwood, N.Y.) and Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.). Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) gave the Roos a 2-0 lead when he connected from Otwell and Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.) at the 13:37 mark of the second period. Hudson Valley's Adam Rakoczy cut the lead in half scoring with 15 seconds left in the second period. Dylan Gronowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) capped off the Roos scoring netting a goal from Rick Simone (Marcy, N.Y.) 4:56 into the final period.
Zach Issler recorded 20 saves for the Vikings.
