Pat Martin
Assistant Athletic Director / Athletic Recruit Coordinator
Pat is in his 11th year at SUNY Canton and is in his first year as assistant athletic director.
Pat is responsible for all scheduling of SUNY Canton’s athletic facilities including the baseball and softball fields, the all-weather turf field and the college’s intramural gym. Pat is also in charge of game management for athletic events and oversees all the recruitment efforts by the athletic department staff and serves as the liaison with the college admissions department.
Pat has also been the head men’s ice hockey coach where he guided the program for seven years.
During his tenure, SUNY Canton qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association championship tournament three times, including the championship game in 2002-02. He was named Coach of the Year in Region 3 following his final season and has coached many all-region and all-American players. Prior to taking over the program Pat was an assistant coach for three years and helped SUNY Canton win their 15th national championship in 1999-00.
In addition to coaching at SUNY Canton, Pat has had several other impressive coaching stints including: the Can-Am Islanders, a Junior B team; the Cortland Bantams who won the 1997 State and National Championship; and the men's Adirondack team in the Empire State Games, where he has served as Director of Ice Hockey Operations.
Pat graduated from SUNY Cortland and played hockey for the Red Dragons for three seasons. Prior to college Pat played hockey at South Kent Prep School and Canton Central School.
Pat currently lives in Canton with his wife Crissy, their son Samuel, and daughters Emalyn and Megan.
