Head Coach
Kate Thomas-Moody
(Canton, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton is pleased to announce that Kate Thomas-Moody has joined their staff as the new head women’s soccer coach. Thomas-Moody takes over for Al Benda, the men’s coach, who guided the women’s team on an interim basis this past fall.
Thomas-Moody comes to SUNY Canton from SUNY Potsdam where she was an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program alongside her husband Tim Moody. Last season the Bears captured a school-record 10 wins and earned a berth in the ECAC Upstate Tournament, where they advanced to the semifinals.
Prior to joining SUNY Potsdam, Thomas-Moody was an assistant women’s soccer coach at Springfield College in Massachusetts and Keuka College. She has also interned in the athletic department at Clarkson University and with the Southampton Saints Football Club in England.
Thomas-Moody, who earned a bachelor’s degree at Keuka and a master’s degree at Springfield, will also serve as advisor of SUNY Canton’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
“We are very happy and excited to have Kate join our staff,” said athletic director Diane Para “She brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and experience to our program and we are confident that that experience will provide for the continued growth and success of our soccer program. Kate has a winning and enthusiastic attitude and will be an excellent fit in our department.”
