Multifunction Unit (MFU) Initiative

The “Strategic Sourcing” initiative was implemented by SUNY in an effort to increase efficiencies at each campus. SUNY Canton has the ability to generate cost savings by better utilizing NYS Contract pricing, participating in aggregate purchasing efforts, and streamlining technical support and maintenance procedures.

This effort applies to all purchases made by all SUNY Canton academic and support areas, Grant requests that include electronics and classroom updates. Any non-standard equipment you currently possess can be used until end-of-life. At that time, our standard options are to be used.

The SUNY Print Initiative was created to:

  • Shift to fewer, more effective devices
  • Reduce color by 50%
  • Move to digital format
  • Assure security
  • Achieve cost savings

SUNY Canton is utilizing the SUNY-Wide Print Services Contract and has placed Multi-Function Units, purchased through Toshiba, in common areas on campus. These machines have the capability to print, scan, and copy.

Maintenance includes parts, labor and toner.

  • Toner (when indicating low) will be shipped automatically by the vendor. All toners and waste toners received will be shipped to IS. These items will be replaced by IS Staff.
  • Your department will be “Recharged” monthly for copy usage.

Paper & Supplies

  • All copy paper (sold by the ream) needs to be ordered through the Campus Storehouse
  • Staples for the multifunction units are available through the Storehouse.
  • Create a requisition for paper and, or, staples and submit through the Finance & Management System (FMS)
