Child Care

Taking your first step is an amazing start in the Child Care microcredential where you will gain knowledge on the development and needs of children ages infancy to five years old.  First, you will study the history, theories and philosophies that form the foundation of early childhood care and education. Then, through development of skills ensuring the well-being of a young child, you will focus on health, safety and nutrition to support a healthy lifestyle. Finally, you will explore the core competencies of the infant-toddler caregiver and the caregiver and family relationship. You will also gain an understanding of state policies and regulations as established by the NYS Office for Children and Family Services. This microcredential is intended for anyone interested in working in the early childcare field, including participants in the St. Lawrence County Child Care Training Program.
