Special Events & Programs
Students, faculty, and staff spend a significant portion of the academic year on campus. In fact, Residential students spend over 30 weeks per year! Therefore, the College Association work closely with other campus offices to provide a variety of social, educational, cultural, and wellness programs for our campus community. Here are just a few highlights:
- 3rd Thursday:
On the 3rd Thursday of each month, meal plan holders get a theme-based meal featuring new products, authentic cultural cuisine, or specialty meal options. This event rotates between lunch and dinner to provide students with broader access. Past events include “Favorites from 1980s, Chinese New Year, Luau, and Dessert Night.”
- Birthday Celebration:
Each month the bakeshop features a giant birthday cake to celebrate with our students! It is a home away from home treat for everyone.
- Wellness:
In conjunction with Student Affairs, the dining team helps to promote wellness through a variety of dining activities. Events have included healthy cooking in a dorm, open mic night, alcohol awareness, “crazy hat and sock day,” and recipes from home.
- Educational:
The Food Access committee is committed to offering campus a variety of social and educational initiatives, including a cooking series. The dining program regularly brings in sample products for students to review and rate to ensure new products meet student needs, tastes, and interests.
