Project Update (August 2023)

Due to construction activities, the following areas remain closed:

  • Parking Lot 8 (French Hall Parking)
  • Parking Lot 2 (Chaney Dining Hall Staff Parking)

Current Construction Activity

French Hall

231033-01 Upgrade French Hall Plaza Phase II

Ongoing. The project includes new accessible walks, minimal stairs, and rails from French Hall to Roselle Plaza, LED lighting, trees, landscaping, stone veneer retaining walls and an outdoor amphitheater. The project is expected to be substantially complete October 2023.

French Hall Plaza project

231042-00 Replace HVAC – French Hall

Ongoing. The project removes and replaces all mechanical, electrical, building management, interior lighting, and fire alarm systems, renovates toilet room areas for accessibility, adds exterior windows, a geothermal well field (Parking Lot 7), and replaces portions of Parking 7 including accessible parking, accessible route, and new LED parking lot lighting. Also being constructed adjacent to Parking Lot 7 are three (3) small scale wind turbines that will be interconnected to French Hall. The project is expected to be substantially complete May 2024.

  • The French Hall parking lot (Parking Lot 8) is closed for contractor parking and delivery of supplies and materials.
  • Parking Lot 7 is closed for contractor parking and delivery of supplies and materials. Work to construct the geothermal field associated with the replacement of the HVAC systems in French Hall is ongoing.  It is expected Parking Lot 7 will not reopen until August 2024.
  • Parking Lot 6 across from French Hall is open with direction to Parking Lot 5 / Wicks Hall via the walk along Cornell Drive as an alternate route to the Campus.

Payson Hall

Work was completed to create a Sensory Room space in Payson 218.

Project 231050-00 Renovate Payson Hall

Currently in Design Phase to completely gut and renovate Payson Hall to accommodate the Business Department, relocate Game Design & Development and Graphic & Multimedia Design as well as create space for Business Accelerator. The project will provide a complete interior renovation including all interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, interior lighting, and fire alarm systems, a new elevator and shaft, and will eliminate all fossil fuel equipment. Design / Bid documents are expected to be complete September 2024.

Nevaldine Hall

231044-00 Improve Accessibility – Nevaldine North & South

Ongoing. The project replaces the stairs and lift at the connection of Nevaldine North & South with an accessible ramp, renovates “Deb’s Corner” for self-serve vending food options, adds a donor recognition wall, renovates existing toilet rooms for accessibility, adds a drinking fountain and water bottle fill station, replaces lighting with new LED lighting, replaces fire alarm, sprinkler, and miscellaneous HVAC systems. The project is expected to be substantially complete August 2023.

Cooper Service Complex

L23172 Salt & Sand Storage Building

The project constructs a salt & sand storage facility behind the Cooper Service Complex. The schedule to complete this project is TBD.

Chaney Dining Center

231048-00 Replace Roofs – Chaney & MacArthur Halls

Ongoing. The main entrance to Chaney Dining Hall is closed until further notice. Entrance to Chaney Dining Hall is either the north or south side entrances to the dining room level. The project replaces the roof, insulation systems, building envelope and main entrance to Chaney Dining Hall. The project is expected to be substantially complete November 2023.

231056-00 Reconstruct Chaney Dining Hall Parking Lot for Accessibility 

Ongoing. The Chaney Dining Hall Staff Parking Lot (Lot 2) is closed until further notice. The project is full depth reconstruction of the parking lot including accessible parking, accessible route, accessible entrance ramp, stone retaining walls, LED lighting, and emergency blue light phone. The project is expected to be substantially complete October 2023.

MacArthur Hall

231048-00 Replace Roofs – Chaney & MacArthur Halls

Wicks Hall

231060 Restore Exterior Façade - Wicks Hall

The project removes and reconstructs the stone veneer walls at the entrance to Wicks Hall from Parking Lot 5. The existing louvers will be refurbished, and certain exterior doors replaced. The schedule to complete this project is TBD pending contract approval.

M23714 Replace Wicks Hall Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) Unit is complete.

Newell Vet Tech Center

M23728 Renovate Portions of Newell for Accreditation

Ongoing. The project renovates portions of the surgery room and scrub room. The project is expected to be substantially complete September 2023.

Convocation Athletic Recreation Center (CARC aka Roos House)

M23712 CARC Replace VESDA Fire Alarm Systems

The project is expected to begin this fall. Updates existing fire alarm systems in the field house an the ice arena. The schedule to complete this project is TBD pending contract approval.

Smith Hall

L23165 Smith Hall Elevator Modernization

Ongoing. The project replaces the elevator located in Smith Hall East Wing. The Smith Hall East Wing is closed until further notice. The project is expected to be substantially complete November 2023.

Kennedy Hall

Work was completed on the 2nd floor of Kennedy Hall to provide Esports and Gaming opportunities for the residence in Kennedy Hall.

Site Improvements

231053-00 Reconstruct Walkways - Payson, Rushton & Heritage Halls

The project removes existing deteriorated pedestrian walks between Payson Hall and Rushton Hall and between Payson Hall and Heritage Hall replacing them with covered walks and stairs. The project is expected to begin this fall. The schedule to complete this project is TBD pending contract approval.

231055-00 Accessibility and Site Improvements, CARC

Design Phase. The project replaces Parking Lot 4 and develops the area between Parking 4 and the CARC previously utilized by New York Power Authority’s Moses-Adirondack Transmission Line. The project includes accessible parking and accessible routes to the CARC main entrances as well as the synthetic turf field, bus drop off and parking, LED Lighting, emergency blue light phone, landscaping, and stormwater management. The project will also include a geothermal well field to support 231050-00 Renovate Payson Hall and future projects to eliminate fossil fuel equipment. Design / Bid documents are expected to be complete December 2023.

L23165 Replace Elevator Smith Hall

Bid Phase anticipated Fall 2022.

231064-00 Reconstruct Multi-Use Path

The project removes and reconstructs the pedestrian walk from the Campus to SH 68 including new LED lighting, and emergency blue light phone. The project is expected to begin this fall. The schedule to complete this project is TBD pending contract approval.

231058-00 Rehabilitate Academic Plaza

Design Phase. The project includes a complete renovation of the academic plaza replacing all pavers, concrete, curbing, and landscaping. The project includes new LED lighting, emergency blue light phone, stormwater management systems, covered entrance to Cook Hall, covered walkways to the Miller Campus Center, a new outdoor eating area near the Cyber Café and heated walks at the entrance to Southworth Library. Design / Bid documents are expected to be complete December 2023.
