Requirements of Professional Licensure

Effective July 1, 2024, federal regulation requires institutions of higher education to make a determination whether a Title IV eligible academic program that leads to professional licensure or certification meets the educational requirements for licensure/certification in the U.S. State where the institution is located and the U.S. States where “distance education” students are located at the time of initial enrollment in the program, as well as U.S. States where the program is advertised as meeting such requirements, and if applicable, the U.S. State where students attest they intend to be licensed/certified.

SUNY Canton’s Professional Licensure Disclosures:

Professional licensure requirements vary from state to state. SUNY Canton academic programs are designed to meet New York State licensure requirements and may not meet requirements from other states. Subsequently, SUNY Canton provides the following disclosures, per federal regulations, related to the educational requirements for professional licensure in other states and territories:

SUNY CANTON MANDATORY PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE DISCLOSURE

Effective July 1, 2024, federal regulation requires institutions of higher education to determine whether a Title IV eligible academic program that leads to professional licensure or certification meets the educational requirements for licensure/certification in the U.S. State where the institution is located and the U.S. States where “distance education” students are located at the time of initial enrollment in the program, as well as U.S. States where the program is advertised as meeting such requirements, and if applicable, the U.S. State where students attest they intend to be licensed/certified.

The Bachelor of Technology in Funeral Services Administration is accredited by ABFSE American Board of Funeral Service Education and thus meets the educational requirements for licensure/certification for New York State.

Additionally, through a reasonable faith effort and to comply with the federal regulation, we have determined that the Bachelor of Technology in Funeral Services Administration at SUNY Canton meets the educational requirements for licensure/certification in the following U.S. States (see table below).

It is important to note that SUNY Canton is not the licensure/certification authority in these U.S. States and cannot assess whether an individual candidate will be issued a license/certificate in these U.S. States. Instead, it is incumbent on each candidate to contact the licensure/certification authority in the applicable U.S. State for any further guidance on the requirements for licensure/certification requirements and application processes.

Practical Nursing Certificate

Attestation Process

SUNY Canton is committed to complying with federal regulations, demonstrating transparency, and empowering students to make informed decisions about their education and future career paths. Subsequently, the College has implemented a student attestation process to ensure that students are fully informed about how the College's professional licensure and certification programs align with a state's or territory's educational standards.

If you have questions about the process, please contact the Dean's Office for the School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice. Prospective students will receive communication about this process in an email before enrollment.
