Research Administrator / Staff Assistant SL-2

SALARY RANGE:

$50,000 - $60,000

Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, Grants Administrator in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP).

ORSP is established to provide the necessary infrastructure to support the grant and research endeavors of SUNY Canton’s faculty, administrators, and staff. 

The Research Administrator will assist in the facilitation of grant proposal development and post-award management.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the ORSP Interim Director, the primary duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate includes providing grants management support with excellent customer service skills.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not necessarily limited to):

  • Assist faculty, staff, and administration in the identification, preparation, and review of new grant awards.
  • Review employee appointments, travel documents, and purchasing requisitions.
  • Reconcile expenditures and balances for ongoing grant/sponsored research projects.
  • Assist in required reporting for state, federal, and private grants/awards.
  • Assist with new project orientation.
  • Work with SUNY Canton Public Relations to promote new awards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in higher education, grants, and/or project management.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills: demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus administrators, researchers, students, and other non-technical personnel.
  • Willingness to complete professional development trainings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook.)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five years of higher education, relevant grant, and/or project management work experience.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
