Trainings
New York State provides insightful training sessions to assist supervisors. SUNY employees can use this valuable resource to complete any of the recommended trainings below.
Learn how to sign in to SLMS and complete trainings.
- Click on E-Business Services
- Click on SLMS-Statewide Learning Management Systems
- Your log in should be the same as when you log in to time and attendance.
- Click on Statewide Learning Management
- If you click on Find Learning, you can type the name of the training you want in the SEARCH BY KEYWORD search bar. If you just want a generic search put in a key word like supervisor. All courses having to do with supervisor will come up.
- When you find the one you want to take click enroll
- If you click on My Learning, it will take you to tall the courses you have enrolled in
- Click the blue arrow (launch) to be taken into the course
- Click on the word Launch again to start course
- Once you have completed course you can go back to My Learning and click Print Certificate
Instant Access to Online-Learning: As a NYS employee, you have access to an online-learning center through the Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER). The GOER online-learning center offers self-study courses that can be accessed 24/7 through the GOER web page. In addition, there are courses designed specifically for supervisors. The following courses are offered:

- Essentials of Supervision: Attendance and Leave Benefits - CSEA Employee Supervisors Only
- EAP for Supervisors
--Teaches supervisors how to use the Employee Assistance Program to address performance and behavioral problems. - Dynamic Team and Meeting Basics
--Explains team development, team process, and how to conduct effective meetings - Supervisor Accountability
- Using Effective Counseling to Improve Employee Productivity
--Describes the counseling process and how it is used to address employee performance problems. - New York State Executive Budget Process
--Describes the phases of the New York State executive budget process, its history, and the Division of the Budget's role in the process. - Internal Controls: Controlling Risk in the Workplace
--This course is dedicated to help NYS employees focus on the purpose of their jobs and help them understand the importance of avoiding errors, preventing fraud, and reducing waste in state government.
