Presidential Internship - On-Campus Internship Program
Presidential Internships give students the opportunity to develop career readiness skills while working in a campus office or department. These skills include communication, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving, work ethic, and professionalism.
- Presidential Internship openings are posted in Handshake as they become available. Fall 2026 Presidential Internships are posted in Handshake.
- Internships are not work-study jobs.
- Students must be in Good Academic Standing to qualify for Presidential Internships.
- Please read internship descriptions carefully before applying. Some opportunities are for students within specific majors.
- 2025-2026 intern pay is based on the hourly rate of $16.00/hour. On average, students earn up to $1,600.00 for 100 hours of work in a single semester.
Needs Based Stipends (transportation, childcare, and housing)
** Priority application deadline is Friday, October 9. Funds are limited. Apply early.
**Students may apply for a stipend to support transportation (i.e. gas mileage, public transportation - bus, train, etc.), childcare assistance (childcare center or in-home care costs), or expenses associated with housing (rent) during an OFF-CAMPUS FALL 2026 internship, clinical, or preceptorship experience. Students can request funds for a credit-bearing or non-credit experience.
A limited number of stipends, up to $500.00 are available for the Fall 2026 semester.
Please, do not submit a request until your internship, clinical, or preceptorship experience is approved and confirmed by your faculty advisor. Applications will not be accepted without this confirmation.
Stipend requests for credit-bearing internships, clinical, or preceptorship experiences will be reviewed by the SUNY Canton Financial Aid before they can be approved.
**IMPORTANT: This application is for FALL 2026 only. Requests for past semesters will not be approved. **Students traveling to sites where the College is already providing transportation are ineligible to apply for transportation support. **Students may not request funds for a friend or family member's transportation, housing, or childcare expenses. **Housing requests are only for those who must relocate and pay for housing/rent to complete an off-campus internship, clinical, or preceptorship experience.
Unpaid Internship Stipend

Students who secure UNPAID INTERNSHIPS with OFF-CAMPUS non-profit, public service organizations, or a small business with fewer than 100 employees, may receive a stipend to support their FALL 2026 internship experience. Students may request funds for internships that are credit-bearing or non-credit experiences. Stipend requests for credit-bearing experiences will be reviewed by the SUNY Canton Financial Aid before they can be approved.
A limited number of stipends, up to $2,000, are available for the Fall 2026 semester.
Please, do not submit a request until your internship is approved and confirmed by your faculty advisor. Applications will not be accepted without this confirmation.
**PLEASE NOTE: This application is for FALL 2026 only. If you are enrolled in a degree-seeking program that results in state licensure or certification (Veterinary Technology, Nursing, Funeral Services, or Physical Therapist Assistant) you are ineligible for the Unpaid Internship Stipend. We suggest you apply for the Needs-Based Stipend.
