Tagging Assets

  • Equipment that is delivered to the College through Central Receiving is tagged by the Property Control Manager or assigned Receiving Staff. If equipment is delivered directly to the department contact the PCC to schedule an appointment for Property Control personnel to physically affix the tag to the item.
  • All newly acquired assets with a value of $5000 must be identified with a SUNY Asset Tag affixed by the Property Control Coordinator. The PCC needs to accurately record the tag number, serial numbers, assign the equipment to the appropriate department and end user, and the building and room location of all equipment. These items are entered into SUNY’s Real Asset Management System (RAM).
  • Equipment with a value of less than $5000 and over $500 (with the exception of electronic equipment or equipment deemed vulnerable) will be tagged with SUNY Canton Ownership Tags. This ensures the campus is taking steps to safeguard our assets. Equipment is considered durable and has a probable life beyond one year.
