Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

A person looks at a mental health counselor while being consoled.

THE GOAL OF Mental Health First Aid is to:

  • Reduce the stigma associated with mental illness
  • Make it more likely that people with mental health problems will seek help
  • Lessen the effects of mental health problems
  • Speed up recovery
  • Make suicide less likely

Cost

  • $75 for community members
  • SUNY Canton faculty, staff and students can participate at NO COST
