Summer Camp Policies
Due to common allergies, parents/guardians should not send their child to camp with any food or snacks containing peanuts.
Campers must be checked in and out but a parent/guardian or an approved individual (i.e. someone the parent/guardian has given permission for) for each day of camp. Approved individuals must be 18 years of age or older and all adults checking in / out a camper will be asked for a photo ID every time.
A parent/guardian or approved pick up individual is expected to be available for the duration of the camp in case campers need to be sent home early due to illness or emergency.
A camper may be dismissed from camp for inappropriate behavior including bullying, fighting or physical violence, stealing or damaging property, or endangering the health & safety of other campers or camp staff. Minor incidents of inappropriate behavior will be addressed by camp staff and parents/guardians will be notified at camp pick up. If issues continue or if severe incidents occur, the camp staff will immediately notify parents/guardians of camper dismissal and coordinate camper pick up accordingly.
SUNY Canton will not provide any medication to campers except for approved emergency medication (ex: EpiPen or inhaler). If your camper requires an emergency medication (ex: EpiPen or inhaler), you must notify camp staff during registration and the emergency medication will be checked in and out each day along with your camper.
If a camper becomes sick or injured during camp, they will be provided with basic first aid and will be assessed by the Camp Safety Director to determine if they need to be sent home early.
If any emergencies occur during camp, University Police and first responders will be contacted immediately, and camp staff will notify parents/guardians as soon as possible.
