Placement Testing

SUNY Canton uses the Accuplacer Placement Test to ensure accurate placement in English and Math courses. Incoming students who are required to complete a placement test will be notified via their SUNY Canton Email address and receive a notification on their New Student Checklist via UCanWeb.

The Accuplacer Placement Test must be completed before your advising appointment to ensure you receive a correct schedule. Details for scheduling Advising appointments can be found on your New Student Checklist in UCanWeb.

If you are a transfer student and have earned a C or better in a Freshman composition course, your transcripts must be on file in the Admissions Office (admissions@canton.edu or 315-386-7123) to be exempt from testing.

Accuplacer Testing Information

SUNY Canton is excited to announce that we are working with Examity, a virtual partner of CollegeBoard to administer College Placement Testing.

Testing through Examity offers the test(s) when it is most convenient for you, including nights and weekends, and SUNY Canton is paying the Examity testing fee for the time being.

Please visit the Examity website for more information having your exams administered virtually. You will be required to have a laptop or desktop PC with working webcam and microphone. No Chromebooks, tablets, or smartphones are permitted for testing.
