Megan Riedl is a lifelong advocate for people with disabilities. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Master’s degree in Secondary English Education, both from SUNY Potsdam. More recently, she completed a professional certificate in Learning Differences and Neurodiversity with a concentration in Supporting Autism on Campus and Online from Landmark College. Megan loves helping students discover their unique strengths to become successful learners. In her spare time, Megan enjoys music, reading, and hanging out with her daughters.

Derrick Gidden is a committed professional with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, both from SUNY Potsdam. With over a decade of experience, Derrick has dedicated himself to supporting people with disabilities and fostering inclusive environments. He finds joy in collaborating with students to customize learning approaches that suit their distinct needs, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Jen Smith is a Binghamton, NY native and attended SUNY Potsdam where she received her bachelor’s degree in Theater and Master’s degree in Organizational Performance and Leadership Technology. Jen comes to us with 6 years working in the disability field. Most recently, Jen worked at Clarkson University as the Testing Coordinator for the Office of Accessibility Services. She also works with TRIBS, the local swim club, as a swim instructor and coach.

Heather Lauzon is an alumna of SUNY Canton who returned in 2001, finding her niche in the Office of Student Accessibility Services. As the front line of the office, she fields questions from phone calls and visitors, oversees the day-to-day office operations, maintains digital files and spreadsheets, and compiles statistical data to create reports for analyses. With neurodivergence as one of her diagnoses, Heather can relate to the struggles and challenges students face – both personally and academically.   With that empathy and understanding comes a commitment to support the mission of the office to ensure that their accommodation needs are met.
