Planning for Arrival
Be sure you have completed your New Student requirements. Please plan to arrive no earlier than one week prior to the start of classes.
Billing requirements PRIOR to Arrival
Please be sure you have done one of the following:
- Paid your bill in full for the semester.
- Confirmed a payment plan AND made the first payment in full.
- If your Visa status is still undecided or you have other circumstances prohibiting you from completing the billing requirements above, you will need to contact Alicia Flynn (flynna@canton.edu and billing@canton.edu) to request a deferment form.
Failure to do this by the deadline provided by the One Hop Shop (see your SUNY Canton email account) leaves your schedule at risk.
OSAP and OTHER Funding Sources
If you are getting aid from home governments or financial organizations but it will not be received and paid to SUNY Canton by the deadline, you need to reach out to billing@canton.edu to request a deferment.
*All deferment requests require time for review. Please contact Student Accounts (billing@canton.edu) well in advance of the deadlines.)
Deferment Request Form
The Deferment Request Form is only for incoming first year students facing challenges with international payments. Please review all available payment options before completing this form as payment prior to arrival minimizes complications with enrollment and orientation. A deferment is not guaranteed but the request will be reviewed. You may be contacted by a member of the review team for further documentation of your circumstances. After the review of your request a member of our billing department will follow up with you via your SUNY Canton email.
Health Requirements
Required prior to arrival: International Student Health History Form
This form is to be completed by you and your healthcare provider. You will need to get a physical exam and all required vaccines prior to arriving in the U.S.
Please contact the Health Center if you have questions regarding this form or requirement at healthcenter@canton.edu.
You risk not being able to stay in on-campus housing and/or suspension if you do not meet these requirements.
Failure to complete these requirements prior to arrival could result in substantial costs out of pocket as these requirements cannot be fulfilled by campus personnel and must be referred out. Additionally, you may be at risk for not being allowed to attend classes or access other services on campus until you are in full compliance with mandatory federal health and safety requirements. Students are responsible for any out of pocket copay/deductible for medical services outside the Health Center, with some in-house services subject to additional cost as well. Requirements such as the lab work or chest x-rays needed if you don’t have the TB screening done at home. Your insurance has a $200+ deductible that you are responsible for before the insurance covers remaining costs.
