Aswini Pai, Ph.D., an ethnobotanist and plant ecologist from St. Lawrence University, will be taking a look at the exchange of traditional and new age herbal medicine.

Erica Sharpe prepares an experiment in the chemistry lab

SUNY Canton Instructor Erica M. Sharpe, Ph.D., prepares an experiment to test the antioxidant properties of mushrooms in the college’s chemistry labs. Sharpe helps orchestrate the Symposium on Natural Medicine each year.

There will also be an herbal medicine trivia game and activities to accompany each lecture.

Nature’s Storehouse has cosponsored the symposium. The Canton business donated herbs for one of the presentations and prizes for the trivia challenge.
