SBDC logoThe Women’s Business Bootcamp, hosted by the SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC), will provide an opportunity to hear about the successes of area woman business owners. “Secrets of My Success – and Mistakes I’ve Made Along the Way” will be a panel discussion where woman entrepreneurs will share their experiences.

The Women’s Business Bootcamp will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at the BOCES Education Services Center, 40 West Main St., Canton. The day will begin with the mini-marketplace where attendees showcase and sell their products and services. A speed networking session will help participants make one-on-one connections and a luncheon buffet will be catered by Big Spoon Kitchen in Potsdam.

The centerpiece of the day will be the panel discussion featuring: Shelby Connelly of Five Elements Living in Colton; Tracy Charleson of Commercial Press in Canton; Donna Lawrence of Lawrence Manor in Gouverneur; Nicole Ouellette of Anchorspace and Breaking Even, Inc. in Potsdam; and Randi Barreiro of Barreiro Communications in Akwesasne. Each of the panelists will share strategies they have used to grow their businesses as well as some “oops” moments and the lessons they have learned.

The Women’s Business Bootcamp Luncheon is held semi-annually by the SBDC and is sponsored by SeaComm Federal Credit Union in cooperation with SBDC resource partners and SUNY Canton. The SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, administered by the State University of New York.

Cost is $35 per person and pre-registration is required. To register, contact the SUNY Canton SBDC at (315) 386-7312 or sbdc@canton.edu. Mini-Marketplace displays are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
