SUNY Canton Alum Named Among Top Foreign Attorneys By National Jurist Magazine
National Jurist Magazine has selected a SUNY Canton graduate as one of the top 15 foreign attorneys practicing law in the U.S.
Ilijana Todorovic, class of 2013, was featured in the fall edition along with 14 of her peers as the most accomplished Master of Laws (LL.M.) graduates in the country.
Todorovic, who is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, earned an undergraduate degree in
Legal Studies with a 4.0 GPA as part of a dual program agreement.
A standout athlete, she was a basketball player for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national team and, in 2011, joined the SUNY Canton’s women’s team as an exchange student.
“The dual degree partnership made it possible for me to study in the United States and receive a high-quality education while providing me with the experience of playing college basketball,” she said of her time in Canton.
During her five-year stay in the United States, Todorovic also earned three LL.M. degrees with highest recognitions from Saint Louis University School of Law and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. In the course of her graduate studies, she was awarded seven Law Excellence Awards, including the Don King Family Award for superior scholastic achievement.
Currently, Todorovic is a judicial law clerk to Judge Ellen M. Hazeur in the New Orleans Civil District Court. She is licensed in New York and Washington, D.C., and has had articles published in the Louisiana Bar Journal and in the Loyola Law Review.
“Ilijana is one of the most accomplished graduates of our Legal Studies program, and she is most deserving of this prestigious ranking by National Jurist,” said SUNY Canton Professor and Curriculum Coordinator for the Legal Studies program Jondavid S. DeLong, J.D. “She serves as a role model for our current and future students who aspire to become among the best in their field.”
SUNY Canton’s Legal Studies degree has earned several national awards for affordability, and the college recently entered into an agreement with the University at Buffalo School of Law that allows students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a law degree in just six years.
