2025 North Country Sustainability Day & Green Living Fair Set for March 29 at SUNY Canton

SUNY Canton will host the 2025 North Country Sustainability Day & Green Living Fair from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, in Dana Hall. The event is free and will feature a full day of exhibits, workshops, panels, and talks, culminating in a keynote address by a renowned ecologist.

North Country Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair

The fair offers hands-on learning experiences about sustainable living, energy efficiency, local foods, composting, and recycling. Community members can also enjoy raffles, demonstrations, an EV and Hybrid car show, and interactive activities for all ages.

  • From 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m., concurrent workshops, panels, and talks will dive deeper into sustainable practices and climate resilience.
  • A Green Jobs Panel at 1 p.m. is among the anticipated highlights of the fair. 
  • A reception from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. will offer networking opportunities. 
  • The event concludes with the keynote speech at 3:30 p.m. in Kingston Theater.

Keynote speaker Sunita Halasz, Climate Strategy Advisor for the Adirondack Research Consortium and Project Coordinator for the Adirondack Climate Outreach and Resilience Network (ACORN), will present findings from the North Country Rural Resilience Roadmap. This report highlights the region’s role in achieving state and national climate goals, outlines local sustainability initiatives, and emphasizes the need for climate resilience in the face of extreme weather events like Hurricane Debbie.

“The Green Living Fair is a fantastic opportunity for students, faculty, and the wider community to engage in meaningful discussions and initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future,” said SUNY Canton associate professor Brandon Baldwin, who is serving as this year’s event organizer. 

The event is a collaborative effort between local institutions, including SUNY Canton, Clarkson University, St. Lawrence University, and SUNY Potsdam, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County, the Canton Sustainability Committee, and the Potsdam Climate Smart Communities Initiative.
