SUNY Selects Amanda Carr to Receive Chancellor’s Award
SUNY has selected Administrative Assistant 2 Amanda L. Carr to receive the 2025-2026 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. She was formally recognized at a college-wide event in May.
The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service is given to individuals who have continuously demonstrated outstanding achievement, skill and commitment to excellence. They must also demonstrate excellence in activities beyond the scope of their job description.

Carr joined the Student Affairs Division Office in 2022 and is described by her colleagues as a dedicated, professional and a positive presence.
She has also assumed numerous additional responsibilities beyond those historically associated with her role, including independently creating a new student award nomination and selection process.
Her supervisor, SUNY Canton Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Courtney B. Bish, said that Carr’s customer service skills are exceptional.
“She is unfailingly kind, deeply caring and consistently enthusiastic in ensuring that students and visitors receive the assistance they need. I have never heard Amanda tell a student, parent, or visitor, ‘we can't help with that.’ Instead, she works diligently to connect them with the appropriate office when an issue falls outside our purview.”
Bish added that Carr routinely goes above and beyond to support other offices within the Student Affairs Division when needed.
“Amanda is highly skilled and an extraordinarily diligent professional. I am grateful to have her as a member of the Student Affairs Division Office.”
