SUNY Canton Commencement to Celebrate Nearly 800 Graduates

SUNY Canton will be celebrating its 118th Commencement Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9 in Roos House Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center.

Approximately 800 students are scheduled to graduate this year from the college’s programs, which range from one-year professional certificates to four-year bachelor’s degrees. Many are continuing their education to earn a master’s degree or attend medical school.

“Commencement is the highlight of the academic year – a time to applaud graduates’ hard work and achievements,” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “I couldn’t be more proud of the class of 2026, and I look forward to congratulating them as they cross the stage.”

Student speakers will include the year’s Outstanding Graduate Award recipients Sydney Valiquette, a Forensic Criminology graduate, and Allison Bickford, a Physical Therapist Assistant graduate.

Prior to commencement, graduates of the SUNY Canton Nursing programs will be recognized at special pinning ceremonies. The Certificate in Practical Nursing ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 7, and the Associate of Applied Science Nursing ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. the same day. Both events are scheduled in the Roos House. The Veterinary Technology pinning ceremony was held April 30.

Commencement will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in-person.
