Instructor Resources
Wellbeing in the classroom
Whether it’s in-person, virtual, or flex, shape a thriving environment that recognizes the connection between wellbeing and academic success.
Suggestions to Get Started
- Include Wellness Resources in your Brightspace resources or syllabus.
-
- Set up a Brightspace announcement in advance to remind students about these resources at key points in the year, like midterms or cold & flu season.
- Recognize breaks as rest periods.
-
- Avoid assigning exams or projects over or immediately following breaks to allow students rest time from their studies.
-
- Give an example of how you rest for stress prevention/reduction and ask students what their plans for rest (or fun!) are over breaks.
- Support strong time management skills
-
- Avoid 11:59pm deadlines so that students are not sacrificing sleep due to procrastination. Try another time during the day such as noon, 5:00pm or 8:00pm to support healthy habits.
-
- Encourage students to plan study time around classes and include wellness in their daily schedule. The Fitness Center, attending a campus event or club meeting or self-care on Timelycare are available options.
