SUNY Canton landed in the top third of the colleges ranked by U.S. News, tying for the 103rd spot on the Best Online Bachelor’s Program List, up one spot from 2024’s position. The college also tied for 58th place in the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans and 104th in Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs.

SUNY Canton Provost Peggy A. De Cooke highlighted the emphasis placed on providing dynamic, real-world content and flexible teaching modalities. “Our most popular programs meet students’ learning and living needs - whether online, in-person or through flex-learning options,” she said. “This is a testament to the extensive efforts of our faculty to develop high-quality, state-of-the-art programs.”

All three of SUNY Canton’s most popular bachelor’s degrees are offered online. During the fall 2024 semester, nearly 300 students enrolled in Cybersecurity, more than 200 students were in Applied Psychology, and nearly 200 students enrolled in Healthcare Management. The college also added a new four-year Data Science and Analytics program as an extension of its successful Cybersecurity program during the past year.

Additionally, University HQ selected two additional programs for rankings. The college’s Forensic Criminology and Legal Studies bachelor’s degree programs earned 6th and 18th place rankings.

SUNY Canton’s faculty members offer online course content through the Brightspace learning management system, which is managed by the college’s Center for Learning Design, Innovation and Online Instruction. In addition to 25 online academic degree programs, the college offers more than 450 online courses.

The Center’s director, Tonka Jokelova, noted that faculty and staff are now exploring the unique ways in which Artificial Intelligence can be part of courses and student learning. “In many of our courses, students are encouraged to use AI responsibly in their analytical and creative work and prepare for their future careers,” she said.
