TRiO Eligibility
Admission to TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is based on two criteria: eligibility and need for academic support. To determine if you are eligible for admission to TRiO, you must:
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at SUNY Canton in either:
- A Bachelor's degree program
- An Associate degree program, but intend to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Canton.
- Be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or otherwise meet residency requirements for federal student aid
- Demonstrate a need for academic support services to succeed in your program
- Meet at least one of the following:
- Be a first-generation college student (neither parent completed a four-year degree)
- Meet income eligibility guidelines set annually by the U.S. Department of Education
- Have a documented disability
- Apply using the TRiO Application and/or contact a staff member directly. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, apply anyway – staff will confirm your eligibility during the review process.
Space in TRiO is limited to 200+ students per year. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible
