Peer Mentoring
Every incoming TRiO freshman is matched with a peer mentor – an upperclassman TRiO student who applied and was selected by staff to do the job well. Sophomores can opt in too. Mentors are matched based on things like your major and degree type, so you’re paired with someone who’s actually walked a similar path.
- Who it’s for: Required for incoming freshmen, optional for sophomores.
- Who mentors are: TRiO upperclassmen who applied and were selected by staff
- How matching works: Staff match you to a mentor based on factors like major and degree type
- What mentors do: regular check ins, help getting engaged on campus (events, activities), academic support, and campus navigation
- How often you meet: Up to you and your mentor to figure out – every other week is a good target, but schedules vary and there’s no-one-size-fits-all pace
Sophomore? If you’d like a mentor, just reach out to the TRiO office and we’ll match you with one.
